If we can learn anything from Malcolm X’s story, it’s that we should never give up on anyone who is going down the wrong path. He transitioned from a drug dealer, pimp and a burglar to a Muslim minister and a human rights activist with the support of John Bembry, a self-educated prisoner.
Throughout his life, Malcolm continued to open his mind further and broaden the scope of his activism, always admitting his past mistakes and modifying his ideology as he gained knowledge and wisdom. In his final days he advocated for tolerance, coalition and international unity, a radically operational philosophy that ultimately led to his murder.
Malcolm’s transformation teaches us as humans that no wayward individual should be neglected, because with the right push, they could accomplish great things. Please keep this in mind in the future whenever you’re frustrated with someone who seems to be hopeless.
